Health and Happiness are essential for our children and for ourselves to have optimum fulfilling lives
Naturopathy uses Natural means to enhance our health and prevent us from any disharmony or to treat ailments and symptoms in a holistic way (Treating the body as a whole).
Herbal Medicines are natural plants and fruits that are made into tinctures or liquid medicines and tablets as opposed to synthetic medications or drugs.
Naturopathy also works with Nutrition and looks at people’s diets to work out any nutritional deficiencies. It can also help work out any food intolerances or allergies and we can modify food habits to personally suit the person making sure they get a nutritious well-balanced easily adaptable diet.
Most Nutrition is obtained through our diet, though sometimes we may need the help of certain Professional Nutrional Supplements to help us regain our optimum path achieve maximum health of our body, mind and spirit.
I also use Australian Bush Flower Essences.
Flower Essences are wonderful remedies that can help with emotional as well as physical symptoms and are especially helpful in treating children.
Prevention is better than cure
Treating the body holistically with herbal medicine and nutrition will treat the body as a whole, the physical and the psychological.
Naturopath’s Diagnosis Tool Box
As a Naturopath we can look at persons:
Skin : Are there any skin problems, e.g. eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, hormonal acne, strange blothes, itching, pallor, premature aging and lacks luste.
Is the skin dry, oily, sensitive?
Hair : Does the hair look healthy, dry, premature graying, hair loss, sparse hair?
Eyes : Do the eyes sparkle, red, yellowy, tired, dry?
Iridology : We use Iridology as a diagnosis tool to verify a persons constitution or type. We can look at the digestive area of the iris to see if there is a build up of toxins. Are there lymphatic congestion signs that may indicate an allergy or immune dysfunction? In the stomach region, is there a lot of whitening indicating increased gastric juices, common during times of stress, and enlargement of the pupils indicating fear or exhaustion?
Even Tongue Analysis : We can actually tell a lot about a persons digestive system through looking at the tongue. Though, this is more Byron, our Chinese Medicine Practitioners department.
Diet Diary
I like people to fill out a diet diary for about 10 days, with every thing they have eaten, the time they have eaten it and a note of any symptoms occurring on that day. This can help work out any nutritional allergies or deficiencies, and they can be corrected with either changing the diet or we can prescribe nutritional supplements if it is clear that a person is lacking from particular nutrients.
Blood Tests
I like to see a Full blood test and chemistry tests, if I am going to be working on a long term treatment, or if there could be any long term deficiencies such as Iron or hormonal imbalances.
There may be need for a number of other medical tests to be performed such as salivary analysis depending on each person which we can discuss on consutlation.
I am happy to work along side any Doctors and other professional Practitioners and often refer patients if I feel they need certain tests or a second opinion, e.g. Diabetes, Epilepsy. I also need to know what medications people are taking e.g. Anti-depressants, Aspirin etc. so we can ensure a safe treatment program.
