CHINESE MEDICINE CAN HELP
29 Dec 2006
People suffering with depression may find themselves sitting at the bottom of a deep hole, which they do not have the energy or motivation to leave. The world becomes bleak. Nothing matters. Not even loved ones. There is no love for self. It is important to recognise that this is the view through the eyes of depression, and by taking the steps to seek help this vision can be changed.
At times like these it is important to focus on taking one step after another. Avoid looking at the big picture, as it can sometimes be too daunting. Take on only what you can handle and remember the times that you have made it through this feeling. Know too that there is help at hand in many forms, one of which is Chinese Medicine.
In Chinese medicine depression is considered a sign of physical and emotional imbalance. The whole premise of Chinese Medical philosophy is to create and maintain equilibrium in the individual. We achieve this using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, diet, massage and exercise therapy. This allows a subtle blend of methods to ensure an individual, holistic, and supportive approach to keeping the clouds away. Depression if left unchecked has the potential to create more severe and longer lasting symptoms such as poor appetite, fatigue, physical pain, nausea, vomiting, PMT, headaches, insomnia, and anxiety to name a few. However a holistic approach in the treatment of depression can open the doors to greater understanding, personal growth, health and happiness.
In the past 12 years I have seen how effective Chinese Medicine principles can be in the treatment of depression, independently and in combination with other forms of therapy.
