Using Your Tools!

Create your life with cardboard!.........

A great way to take a first step with making changes in your life is by creating a ‘vision board’ or collage of everything you would like to bring into your life.  This is fun & you can feel the passion and inspiration through your body when you find the pictures that represent these things!

You will need a large piece of cardboard and many inspiring magazines, scissors & glue – and your visions. Take some time to look through the magazines and cut out all pictures & words that represent what you would like your life to be like.  Examples are:  family holidays, creating an organic veggie garden, helping in the community, peaceful & loving relationships, expanding your heart chakra,  an income from that which makes your heart sing, feeling & looking healthy & vibrant, learning a craft you’ve always wanted, dancing lessons with or without your partner, recycling grey water………and your list goes on!

Glue them all over the cardboard, with inspiring words pasted here & there – ‘Compassion”; “Laughter”; “Joy”;“Harmony”; “Positive Words”; “Gentleness” etc.

Then, sit back & take a look at your collage, your creation - your steps to creating your life how you want it to be!

Place it where you will see it everyday and can take a few minutes to look at it, breathe in the feelings of passion, excitement, inspiration.

My example of one I did 4 years ago had pictures of a Samson Juicer, lots of trees, butterflies, frogs & birds in my yard, a happy family, sandpit for the kids,  Yoga teacher training course  & words of “Heart Power”,  “Using Grey water in the garden”; “Healthy Mind, Healthy Body”  and more – and then, 2 – 3 years later, as I gazed  at my vision board, I realized   what I had achieved and gave the pictures & words a big tick and a moment of feeling absolute gratitude.  We had our Sampson juicer.  We had moved town, and were using grey water on our garden.  The butterflies & birdlife (birds I’d never seen in real life before) were absolutely amazing in our yard, with all the trees around us.  I had even specified what kind of trees – frangipani, Jacaranda, Hibiscus & fruit trees – and there they were, on our acre of land (we were renting).  Then, I completed my Yoga teacher training in May 2006.  So much more has been created since then on my more recent vision board…..and I’m creating a new one focusing on the qualities I would like to bring into my life more – like softness, femininity, stability, compassion, strength, flow.

So, I encourage you to take the time to create this, because seeing it & feeling it is what goes out to the Universe as the magnet, and then comes back for you to experience (that of course, works with negative or unwanted visions & feelings too).

It is best to balance this with feeling grateful for all you have right now. Quite a few months ago, I found myself  wanting    to run away from my mothering role because I felt so challenged and “didn’t know what to do”  (“poor me” program again!).  Then I started to feel grateful for situations (well, most times, when I didn’t let anger, frustration or hopelessness consume me!).  This gave me an opportunity to grow and to use my tools, and become a better mother, person and woman.  So, even though I was grateful for the material things I’d received and the gardens, wildlife, the Yoga training – I needed to find the peace within myself at times when I was being ruffled the most.

I needed (and still do now some days) to cultivate a tool, to practice & apply a technique to help me let go of the old program of blame, anger, poor me.

This brings true happiness – attachment to our material world can bring sadness, devastation, depression, heart-ache etc – because we have done just that – attached our happiness to the situation, item, or person. So, while you envision the perfect lifestyle, the changes you want to make in yourself, the way you want your

relationships to be and so on, you can balance it with feeling grateful for everything right now. For some this might  sound very hard to do, especially if you’re going through a hardship – but if you can trust that the rainbow will appear when you keep your thoughts positive and  know things always work out for the highest good of all – then you will see,
bit by bit, things changing around you.

In the next AngelMothers Ezine Newsletter, I will offer another technique to help become aware of our thoughts and programs and ways to begin changes towards more positive and productive thinking.
