What really is Natural Beauty? I have been a beauty therapist for 20 years and have experienced an array of treatments, products, gimmicks, programs and all in the name of Beauty. I have worked in beauty salons, hair salons, theatre, day spas, exclusive cabaret clubs and made people feel beautiful for proms, weddings, shows and ……..just because.

Everyone wants to feel that they look good.

So what works???? Is it expensive skin care products, fancy clothes, gym routines and strict diets? I once worked selling moisturizers for $500. Did those women truly glow????

Some may think so but we know that all the above are surely not the answer to real Beauty.

Motherhood has certainly changed a few things for me. I had to change as I am sure all mothers can relate, especially with young children, ‘our time is limited’. So as far as beauty regimes, lotions and potions go, they are usually moved down to the end of list of priorities. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

When do you feel beautiful? It is when we feel good inside and when we are happy and content with who we are in our lives and most of all the beauty that comes from our hearts.

Of course we CAN feel much better about ourselves if we do take a bit of extra time to pamper ourselves. It doesn’t take long, just a bit of organization and Pizzazz.

The Most important Beauty Rules

A Healthy Balanced diet with the right amount of the right nutrients consumed at the right time.

Fresh Drinking water, up to 2 litres a day. Limit caffeine, alcohol and other toxins

Exercise: Walking, swimming, dancing, trampolining and whatever else your children want to do.

Rest and Relaxation to recuperate our busy minds.

Love people, love ourselves, love life, love what we do, love our hobbies e.g. gardening, reading.

A facial you can give yourself at HOME

· Cleanse your skin by massaging your face and neck with a suitable cleanser, rinse off with warm water.

· Exfoliate your face and décolleté (neck and shoulders) with a gentle facial scrub. This helps desquamate your skin (remove surface dead skin cells). Rinse and wipe over with a soft damp flannel.

· Apply a Masque with a pastry brush to deeper cleanse the pores and therapeutically treat any blemishes. Leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse face or use a flannel to remove .

· Massage with a nourishing/re hydrating treatment oil (according to your needs). This can be left on your skin overnight. If you are going out use a toner, day moisturiser and eye cream.

Natural Face cleansers (Dry or normal skin)

2 tbsp Jojoba oil and 1 drop of geranium essential oil. If you massage this into your face and neck with your fingers, you can remove the excess oil with two dampened cotton wool pads.

An exfoliating Cleanser for oily skin :2 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp ground rice or rice flour and1/2 tsp finely grated lemon peel. Mix all together with a little water and gently massage into your face and neck then rinse with water.

Toners A natural toner will cool the skin and help close the pores after cleansing.

Cut two large grapes in half and take the pips out. Rub them all over your Face and neck and rinse of after a few minutes. Grapes contain enzymes that can help tonify the skin.

Sensitive/dry/mature skin can be sprayed with rose water bought from a health food shop. Orange flower water is great for normal to oily skin and witch hazel water for blemished skin.

Spray natural mineral water over your skin for a simple day refreshener.

Oat scrubs : Mix a tablespoon of organic oats with a little warm water and massage into your skin. Rinse off in the shower or use a damp flannel.

Other Exfoliate ideas : almond flour, fine sugar. For the body : Sea salt and olive oil scrub in the shower.

Egg White masque : Great for dry skin. Mix the 1 egg white with a tsp honey and 1 tsp cream. Brush onto your skin and neck with a pastry brush and rinse off after 10 minutes. This will leave your skin feeling revitalized and radiant and I believe refines those happy expression lines. Can add 1 drop of geranium to this masque for a beautiful deluxe treatment.

Sight for sore eyes : Sliced Cucumber over your eyes or cool Chamomile tea bags REALLY do soothe.

More ideas of yummy face masks : Banana, Avocado, fresh pineapple, yogurt.

Mix into either almond meal, milk powder or fine natural clay powder

Avocado and honey scrub

A facial cleanser with a difference. I use avocado and honey and sea salt for a scrub .
I discovered this when I was using the avocado and honey as a hair treatment .

I just added the salt and it made my facial scrub my skin feels amazing and it feels so  soft.

I also use 100% vitamin E oil and it takes care of any unwanted lines. My friends have actually commented on my skin and have started using vitamin E oil now too.

For a mood lifting bath, you can throw into the hot water some orange or mandarin peels. Their essence seeps into the water and has an uplifting aromatherapy effect.

If you want the bath to be moisturizing at the same time, add a dolop of olive oil and then pat off with a towel (not your favorite). Your skin will glow.

For a foot scrub, mix 1/2 cup sea salt with a dolop of olive oil and your favorite essential oils. First soak your feet in hot water, then scrub with the mix and soak again. They will be shiny and smooth and glowy.
